Problems with my LG Dishwasher Minimize

June 25, 2009

In Reference to Dishwasher (POS)
Model LDS4821ST

I will start off by saying that I have owned a few LG phone in the past and loved them, however this new very expensive dishwasher I purchased from you is terrible.  It leaves food partials on my dishes even the clean ones that I put into it.  So basically I can put clean dishes in and they come out dirty.

I had a technician come out and look at it and they gave me the following as “possible” problems.

Water Temperature
Hard Water
Drainage Issue
Rinse Agent

I mean wow, what a laundry list of stuff to do before you’re willing to do anything about my problem.

Water Temperature
So, let’s start with the water temperature, I was basically told that due to the low water consumption of the dishwasher that I would never meet the specification of the 120 degrees needed for this thing to operate.  Recommended solution is to run the hot water at the sink until the water is hot and then start the dishwasher or install a hot water heater right next to the dishwasher.  All I have to say on this one is “are you #@#@$#@ me?”

Hard Water
Ok, this is a common I just don’t feel like dealing with “you” response.  You can basically claim that everyone has had water and don’t have to own up to this dishwasher working.  Recommended solution was to install a softener.  Well I checked with my neighbors that don’t have softener and they don’t seem to have this problem, they have the same water.  Swing and a miss.

 Drainage Issue
The service tech said it but never checked if it was really a problem.  From my point of view, just a fantastic job (sarcastic, just in case you didn’t get that one).

Rinse Agent
Tried it didn’t help.

So I am faced with installing a hot water heater under my kitchen sink (unrealistic) and softener before you willing to “really” diagnose the real problem, or you equipment is not really designed to work properly.

This message is intended to give you an opportunity to correct the problem and I have posted this on my web site at  www.jamesgress.com so you can always check on my satisfaction level on this issue (so can everyone else).

My wife was about to get the matching LG Fridge, Stove, and Micro, to mach, but I can tell you at this point it is looking like we will be going with another brand that works, like GE, Maytag, or Whirlpool.

I will gladly write any positive comments as a result of some positive action taken by LG.

No response yet from LG on my email request for help.

Decided to see what the implication are to do the suggested recommendation by LG by running my water and getting it hot before running the dishwasher.

It looks like I will have to waste 2 gallons of water every time I run it.   As this is a low water consumption dishwasher, it wouldn’t matter what temperature I set my water heater to, to meet the required 120 degree temperature.  I also have kids in the house and refuse to put them in harms way of turning up my water heater to scalding temperatures.

Also for us environmentalist looking at the specks on this “thinking” you will be saving energy using this system, keep in mind you have to warm up two extra gallons of water under your house that will just cool off again and the whole wasting 2 gallons of water for nothing also bothers me.

In really I believe that LG did this it this way to be able to put a sticker on their machine that sais “look how energy efficient we are.”  In reality there not, and have caused you to waste more energy, just indirectly.
